The story revolves around the characters of Margaret and Andrew. They are both employees of the Colden Books, which is a book publishing company. Margaret is the editor-in-chief and Andrew is her assistant. Margaret falls into trouble, as she faces deportation. Andrew comes forward to help her out of the situation. He declares Margaret as his wife and saves her for the time being. But Margaret is not very comfortable with this drama and she divulges the truth in front of Andrew’s family and the immigration officials. She comes back to New York and prepares to leave for Canada, within the 24 hour deadline. But Andrew comes to her and proposes her, disclosing his love for her. Andrew does that in front of the staff, in the office and Margaret also agrees to marry Andrew, as she also loves him.
