The central character of this series was Mrs. Garrett. In this series, Mrs. Garrett has become the headmistress of a very well known girl’s school in Eastland. This show became very popular and created history of sorts, by becoming one of the longest running sitcoms in the 1980s. This show also introduced many more female characters, who added to the fun and enjoyment factor of the show. Seven girls were introduced, who were named Nancy, Blair, Sue Ann, Cindy, Molly, Natalie and Tootie. A new girl Jo was introduced in the later seasons. Blair, Tootie, Natalie and Jo remained with Mrs. Garrett till 1986, after which she remarries and leaves. The character of Beverly Ann, the sister of Mrs. Garrett was also introduced in the year 1986 and remained till the year 1988, when the show finally ended.
