Paul Blart: Mall Cop is a mix of comedy and action. Paul Blart (Kevin James) is a mall security officer. Paul is a simple, dutiful, family man. For years, he has applied to the police academy, but always fails the physical exam because he is overweight. Paul has the chance to prove what he’s made of when a group of goons, disguised as Santa’s Helpers, take control of the mall just before closing time on Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. They lock the doors and take the customers hostage in the bank branch located in the mall, including the object of Paul’s affection – Amy (Jayma Mayas), a mall kiosk worker. They planned to steal $3 million from the credit card receipts, but the problem is Paul Blart. There is a twist when Paul catches the gang and save the mall along with all the hostages.
The film is a good comedy film with a touching concept. Kevin James handles the role deftly. He’s clumsy, awkward and pitiable in a cute kind of way, like an ugly puppy dog. Paul Blart is the type of character reminiscent of John Candy at the height of his career. Generally speaking the film is an overall a good movie to watch with your family.
