In this film, the main character is Odd Horten, a 67 years old train driver. He is about to retire in a couple of days time and so, he is a bit upset. On this particular evening, Horten participates in a farewell party that is organized by his friends and colleagues. But Horten is a very shy person and so, he leaves the party early. But incidentally he lands up in the wrong flat, where a small boy was sleeping. When Horten came in the flat, the boy woke up. He then requested Horten to stay with him till morning. Horten stays with the boy and in the morning, he reaches the platform late. By the time he reached the platform, his train has departed without him. He was left alone in the empty platform. Horten has nowhere to go and nothing to do. He will have to start building his life afresh.
