Adrian Monk (Tony Shalub), is a former police detective with a photographic memory and the ability to piece together tiny clues to solve crimes. This once local legend now suffers from intensified obsessive-compulsive disorder and a variety of phobias since the unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, in 1997. While he’s on psychiatric leave from the San Francisco police department, he works on a consultative basis until he can convince his ex-boss, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to let him come back to work. He works with an assistant, at first his nurse, Sharona (Bitty Schram) and now, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard) as he assists the police in solving crimes. He’s even garnering the admiration of his once-detractor, Lieutenant Rnadall Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford). What new adventures will Monk face in this final season? Will he finally overcome his psychoses to become a functioning member of the police department again, or will he always be the lovable neurotic we’ve come to know and love in these last eight years?
