Jada Pinkett-Smith portrays Christina Hawthorne, Richmond Trinity Hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer. She’s a strong, compassionate nurse working with a hard-working staff of medical professionals on the hospital’s front lines. She’s a no-holds-barred professional who will care for a homeless woman one minute and expose a mistake the next, standing up for her patients whenever necessary and to whomever necessary. She keeps the hospital administrators, including her mother-in-law, seeing patients as human beings when the hospital is busy or distracting, even to the point of violating protocol. This does take a toll on her personal life, including being a single mother after losing her husband to cancer. She has to find a way to balance her life before it comes apart, and before she loses her relationship with her teenage daughter.
