Fired Up is the story of Shawn Colfax (Nicholas D’Agosto) and Nick Brady (Eric Christian Olsen), the star football players of the Gerald R. Ford High School football team. They decide to pass on football training camp in the hot desert in order to go to their school’s cheer camp instead. They find themselves surrounded by a sea of gorgeous young women who think they’re “sensitive guys”. The guys have the time of their lives until Shawn falls for Carly (Sarah Roemer), the beautiful head cheerleader who is very suspicious of their motives. Meanwhile Nick’s hot for teacher. In order to win Carly over, the boys must come up with some surprising new moves to prove Shawn’s intentions before the all-important cheer competition finals.
Olsen and D’Agosto bring a breath of fresh air to the film. Both have great comedic timing. As a buddy team, they do well in a film that allows them to be real people. The director shows a wicked sense of humor in this feature film.
