Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant is the first film of the Cirque du Freak saga. This fantasy-adventure film focuses on Darren Shan, a teenager who’s forced to make a decision on leading a normal life or becoming a vampire after unwittingly destroying a 200-year-old truce between warring vampire factions. Darren and his best friend stumble on the freak show accidentally – or was Darren drawn there? He meets Larten Crepsley, the leader of a traveling freak show who is also a vampire. Darren is a typical, normal teenager who finds there’s more to life than good grade and staying out of trouble. Will he join the freak show to help the freaks survive?
