European Organization for Nuclear Research scientists are conducting the Big Bang Experiment using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC – it is the world’s biggest atom-collider), to unlock the secrets of the universe. This experiment is being conducted at the Swiss-French Border in a 27 KM tunnel which is 100 meters below ground level. The LHC is used to collide sub-atomic particles at the speed of light and create a condition which existed for a fraction of a second after the “Big Bang” that created the whole Universe 13.7 billion years ago.
Scientists have been preparing for this experiment from past 14 years and the cost is around 2.6 billion Swiss Francs.
This experiment started on Wednesday, 10th Sept 2008, and is believed to shed more details about mass, matter, basic building blocks of life and other mysteries of Universe.
We are proud to know that more than 100 scientists from India are a part of this experiment and India has exported Important Software and Hardware that is used in this experiment.
Few Scientists critic, this experiment is dangerous and would create a Black Hole which would swallow the whole Earth inside-out. But leading scientists like Britain’s Stephen Hawking who are backing the experiments are dismissing any fears and have declared the experiments to be absolutely safe.
Hope the experiment will not create any damages to Mother Earth and the scientists are successful in finding the answers for through this experiment.
