Maruti A Star Update: India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd launched its compact B-segment car “Suzuki A-Star” yesterday in Mumbai. Built on a new platform its an excellent city car with a state-of-the-art, light weight, 998cc K10B petrol engine. A-star is the best in class, fuel efficient car, with a mileage of 19.59 kilometers per liter, as tested by ARAI, Pune, country’s premier automotive research agency. The A-star is the first car from Maruti Suzuki to be fitted with the new KB Series engine. The engine offers power of 67ps @ 6200 rpm and torque of 90nm @ 3500 rpm. The company has launched the new model in three variants i.e. Lxi, Vxi & the top end fully loaded Zxi. The Introductory prices of A-Star in Mumbai are: -

It made its world premier this year (2009) with its striking world class design and safety standards. This is Suzuki’s Fifth World strategic model which would be built in India for export & domestic markets.
A-Star would fill the gap between Alto & Swift.This sleek & sporty car looks European with an Indian touch and adaptability added to it. Its expressive eyes like headlamps stands out on the smooth bonnet.
A-Star would also be the first car to be produced only in India for domestic & global markets. Being a world car this meets all the required safety norms & would be in direct competition with Hyundai’s i10. A-Star would also have an option of 1.2 liter K-series engine to compete with i10’s kappa engine. Suzuki is also working on the diesel option which will still take some time to debut.

a-star is the Ideal car for city runabout. A-star’s performance is unmatchable even by large sedans in highways. Who wants extra space in city cars just go for astar. I’m owner of A-star for six months. You can’t go wrong with A-star.
