A UK Work Visa is soon going to become a distant dream for Non European Professionals (Specially Indians) as a result of the global recession and the Rise in Unemployment in UK. Britain is putting in place New Immigration Restrictions on Indian professionals and other non European countries as well so that existing jobs are first offered to local workers.
From April, the basic requirements for Visa to UK under the Tier 1 (Points Based) category immigration system will be raised.
New UK Visa Restrictions
The qualification and minimum salary levels for Indian and non-EU professionals will be raised to masters degree and 20,000 pounds from the current requirement of undergraduate degree and 17,000 pounds.

Is this only for those applying for a brand new application? what about those ALREADY here under the HSMP / Tier One that are looking to apply for an extension – do these new requirements apply? or do these applicants remain under the old rules…..?
Anyone know when the next announcement with more details will be released?
Petra,
I think, this apply to only first time entry clearance. the new rules will be annouced very soon. Please refer latest news dated 12 March on UKBA site – below link.
