The Hyundai Elantra that was launched way back in 2005, created quite a buzz in the auto industry. The reason – it was being targeted against the Japanese leaders “The Toyota” & “The Honda”. This kept every one waiting for the Elantra. It did quite well for a few months as expected, but, Hyundai lost its race shortly to their rival on various aspects. The car didn’t quite appeal to the masses & lot of them felt its looks needed more attention. The drive again was not that interesting but the selling was always ticking as it had an advantage of an oil burner which their competitors didn’t have. Various discounts were introduced in an attempt to upkeep the sales, but its after sales experience was bitter & the Elantra began to sink slowly. It was no more considered as competitor of Toyota & Honda and this made Hyundai work on to tackle this segment.
Hyundai has taken some extra care this time and is now, all set to debut with is new model (The New Hyundai Elantra) with enough home work done keeping in mind its past experience.

The Hyundai Elantra 2008 looks extremely appealing, but we just need to wait & watch if it can match that of “The Honda Civic” and the just launched “Corolla Altis”. Its sleek front bonnet & bumper gives an impression of its sportiness. Its cup shaped center grill is something similar to the Verna but here it fits well in the redesigned Elantra. The interiors look fresh with lots of smart features.

The two tone dash makes the car feel more roomy. Steering comes with auto controls & the music system has an in-dash CD player. The high-end version has an auto transmission keeping in mind the selective customers. The rear is a bit short like the Verna, and here it has a tail lamp, which is quite similar to the 9th generation Corolla.

Though it would have both petrol as well as the diesel versions it is assumed that it would have a 1.8 L Petrol & 1.6 CRDi engine. More technical features would be updated shortly.
