There is a saying “Anger always comes from frustrated expectations“, this is absolutely true in the case of Minchina Ota. After seeing the subtly brilliant ‘Cyanide‘, I expected a lot from director AMR Ramesh’s new movie. With the support of two brothers Vijay and Sree Murali, i thought he would come out with a decent action adventure film which would maintain the image and standing of the original from the Nag brothers (This ones story is not at all similar to the old one). But Minchina Ota will disappoint even hardcore fans.

Vijay (Vijay Raghavendra) and Bhadra play the typical Class-Mass divided Heroes from an apartment and a slum. They fight frequently to establish supremacy in their area. They have the usual boy-gangs as chelas. A girl enters their lives. Vijay likes her but she falls in love with Bhadra. The girl turns out to be the sister of the biggest don in Karnataka ‘Rai’ (obviously an offshoot of Muthappa Rai). Rai gets Bhadra beaten up badly. But he does not give up his love. The rest is what is described as the 45 min ‘Ota’ climax. A chase which is just ok to watch.

The music fails to inspire but the cinematography is good. Rangayana Raghu and Umashri are a real pain in the movie. Their roles are too over the top and their sentimental scenes are a big drag. Tennis krishna and the other side kicks are very irritating too. Their Comedy is very stale and repetitive. Lakshmi Rai is a bright point in the movie. She suits her role and has given a good performance. Suman and Rahul Dev have done justice to their roles even though they are under used in the movie. Vijay and Murali give an average performance. Murali is bad in sentimental scenes. But he has a better role then his brother. Vijay’s role is not scripted well and this results in his character looking confused all the time.

Overall, its a failure of AMR Ramesh. A bad screenplay and too many sentimental scenes makes the film a bore.

What to watch out for in the movie? Lakshmi Rai. She is beautiful and will be the next big thing in the kannada film industry.Cinematography.

Biggest losers ? Sa Ra govindu off course with his 4 crore investment.AMR Ramesh. Rangayana Raghu.

Should you watch it? Hmm,may be not. Watch it if you support kannada films blindly like me :)
