In the premiere episode of Make It or Break It, Emily Kmetko knows she’s in for a challenge. The Rock is very different from any other competitive gymnastics training facility she’s ever been in. She’s different from the other gymnasts: she’s been “discovered” on a playground, she has to work to help pay bills, and her whole family moved to be near the center. Emily is seen as a threat to the other competitors from the first day. Only three will be allowed to compete in the National championships, and Emily might just displace one of the three top gymnasts: Lauren, Kaylie, and Payson. Lauren sabotages Emily at the trials, to make sure she doesn’t go any further. Emily surprises everyone by nailing her second attempt and ousting Lauren. Lauren gets even by going to a rival training center and taking the head coach with her (after being blackmailed by Lauren’s father). The girls are now without a coach with Nationals only a few days away. What’s next for the girls? Will their dreams be shattered? Or will they find a way to compete and maybe even make the Olympic team?
