Welcome to Liverpool.. The city that loves football more than anything… the city that loves their football heroes more than their families…. But what do they get in return… A club that has lost its true identity, A group of players who need to be reminded that they play for one of the best (if not the best) clubs in the history of football (yes its history… it was a great club… but no more)… A manager who doesn’t know what he is doing and the owners who (no comments please… as the whole world knows about them).

Liverpool FC – The club of champions

We are the most successful club in the history of English football. We have won the league a record 18 times but when did we win the last one 1989-90. A decade has passed by, in fact a millennium has passed by but we still don’t have a single premier league title to show for our 19 year effort- Hang on was it a serious effort. The fact that we are not even able to mount a serious title challenge hurts the kopites more than reading that we have not won it for 19 years. And watching our start to the season I don’t think we will be considered part of the Big Four come the end of the season.

What has been done to correct this?

We brought in Mr. Gerard Houllier who revolutionized the way the club works by signing every French kid he can find. But what we needed was kids who had talent, who had steel to survive in the premier league and with all due respect for the players we needed kids who would love our club more than anything in life. Yes we didn’t win anything under him but did we play the brand of football that we were once famous for – A big NO.

Walk in Mr. Benitez – the man who could transform the club and take us back to where we belong – right at the top end of the football world. And with him came the Spanish armada that has brought us some good players, most notably Alonso, Torres and hopefully Pachecho in the near future. It almost looked like a fairy tale when we won the champs league and the FA cup, but the big question remains unanswered- When is No.19 coming ?

And in all these years liverpool has lost its heroes. They need to remember that they play for Liverpool FC. We should be able to beat anyone. Instead we play negative, defensive and unattractive football.

What should be done?

A change in the approach is what we need. We need a team with winning mentality. And to achieve this we should be able to do anything – even if it’s turning against the owners or turning against the manager. We need players with quality, not players who can run the length of the pitch a hundred times without a stop but can’t even pass the ball 10 yards in front of them.

Samurai, is a devout Reds’ Fan.And when he says so, then we really need to think of the criticality of this blog. when he says so, its only beacuse he’s got his figures and the stats correctly. And one more thing, i must say about this person is that, he studies the game and not the players. And thats what Liverpool has got to do as he suggests.
And yes SAMURAI, You’ll Never Walk Alone , as there are many other Reds who think the same.

I would like to ask Samurai to calm down.
Please don’t forget that all the players whatever their nationality is or their previous club is, now are Liverpool FC players and they are pretty proud about that fact.

Criticizing our own players or the coach isn’t going to do any good. Being frustrated about Liverpool not winning the Premier League is something we fans can do, but I think we should also spare a thought for the players themselves, who, in spite of trying their best aren’t achieving the desired results.

Let us stand by our players and hope that we beat everyone who comes in our way!

    Hi Saingakishore Srikantham,
I know what you are talking about and i can clearly understand your feelings, as from a long time(many years) i was looking at LFC from the same view.
But in this modern day of Football, where the beautiful game has become mere business, i dont think this approach will do us any good.
May be you will agree with me after the game with Man U(which i am praying that we win…. My heart says Liverpool will win but my mind strongly diasgrees)game, next weekend.
Will be waiting for your reply…
Till then enjoy the international break…
