Finally theres good news for all the cricket fanatics. The news is that the Test Matches between India and England will be played as planned before. The First of the two Test Matches will be played in Chennai from December 11 after changing the venue from Mumbai after the very tragic Terror Attacks on November 26, 2008. And the Second Test Match has been shifted to Mohali from Chennai and will be played from December 19.

Security adviser of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Mr. Dickason has been satisfied finally with all the security arrangements and his report to the ECB officials went with a green signal for the series. Hugh Morris, Managing Director of England Cricket has outlined the players that the tour would go ahead, subject to security recommendations being implemented in India.

Even though the series will be made official only on December 7, the players and personnel and the audience are all already in place and ready for Test cricket. The English players have been arranged for a practice in Abu Dhabi and are looking for vengeance after their disappointing show in the one day series. The Indian team would like to send the English visitors off empty handed.

There are speculations that this could be ‘The Great Wall’s‘ last series. Its sadly notable that Rahul Dravid is not in good terms with his batting form. His ability to live up to his self set high standards of consistency has considerably taken a hit since he stepped down from the skippers role. There s been a significant dip in his performance in tests. And in the one dayers as well , its evident from the fact that he is no more a member of the one day squad. He looked completely out of the sorts against the Aussies and with some talented players in the likes of M Vijay and Badrinath waiting for their chance to pounce on, the message on the ‘Wall’ is pretty big this time. Ant there are C Pujara and Rohit Sharma, too, have been knocking constantly now the BCCI doors for their opportunity after some brilliant performances in the Ranji Trophy. Lets hope the Wall signs off in style and we all get to see the great cricketers classy touch one last time.

The Indian Squad for the series has been announced and its good news for Yuvraj fans.Back-to-back centuries and an aggregate of 325 runs in five matches at an average of over 100 saw Yuvraj Singh him force his way back for a test career who is believed to have been the replacement for DADA. Spinner Mr. Pragyan Ojha has earned the test cap for himself with the series. The left-arm spinner from Hyderabad shall make an attempt to fill in the huge void left over by Kumble. Speedster RP Singh is not in the team as Mr.Dhoni is learnt to have chosen Munaf Patel over Singh.

Its hard to be relaxed and stay in the mood to watch the tests after the Mumbai incident, but lets only hope the Gentleman’s game try and brings some much needed break from the trauma and pain stricken people.

India Squad : MS Dhoni (captain, wicketkeeper), Virender Sehwag (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, S Badrinath, M Vijay, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra, Munaf Patel.

England Squad :Kevin Pietersen (captain), Tim Ambrose, James Anderson, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Andrew Flintoff, Stephen Harmison, Monty Panesar, Matthew Prior, Owais Shah, Andrew Strauss, Graeme Swann.

    Hey Lavanya,
I am a big fan of Rahul too . . .it ll be sad day for me too, the day when he would be having his boots hung. I have followed him from his first few matches. He is one of the greatest cricketer India has produced and it will be long since India can find replacement as good as him.

Having said that, I cant deny that he has been consistently looked out of the loop loosing his charm these days and he badly needs to pull up his socks to shut his critics up.
