ghajini movie review

I had the opportunity to watch the premiere show of Ghajini and let me start by telling you that this movie is nothing like the movie “Memento”. Unlike other Aamir Khan movies, Ghajini is a complete “masala” movie with action, romance, humor and suspense. What makes it outstanding is the perfection behind each and every aspect of the movie.

aamir asin ghajiniIn Ghajini, Aamir Khan plays the role of “Sanjay Sinhania”, a person suffering from short term memory which makes him incapable of remembering things beyond 15 minutes. The only memory he has of his past is a hazy recollection of his girl friend, Kalpana (played by Asin Thottumkal) being murdered and the name Ghajini, which she whispers in his ears just before dying. Using notes and tattoos Sanjay sets out to hunt for the murderer and take his revenge.

Ghajini unfolds at an unbelievable pace. The first half of the movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, gripping and thrilling. The romance between Sanjay and Kalpana is tender and endearing and the way it is narrated is brilliant. It makes you fidgety by not telling you the whole story at a stretch and keeps you asking for more. The attention to detail is amazing; there is even an explanation of how Sanjay gets his 8 packs. The movie also has its lighter moments. Kalpana’s story of how she and Sanjay Sinhania meet at the Delhi airport and how he proposes her is definitely laughable. I also enjoyed the “Kite” detergent ad, the Ambassador resolutions and the fake Sanjay Sinhania immensely.

The second half of the movie gets darker and more thrilling with even more action. The acting which is superb throughout the movie touches a different level of brilliance. Aamir Khan transforms himself into a roaring beast, driven by his insane fury. While the death of Kalpana will bring tears to your eyes, the last fight sequence will leave you trembling in excitement. Asin Thottumkal plays the perfect partner for Aamir Khan, with some great acting and never trying to steal the focus from Aamir. If anything, Ghajini falters in its music. Of course the background scores are awesome but except “Guzarish”, the songs do not have the AR Rehman magic. Nevertheless, in a year with a serious dearth of good movies Ghajini will make up for all of that.

Ghajini movie is a must watch for an Aamir Khan Fan. I can guarantee you that this movie is going to be one of the Biggest Block Buster Hits and will set new Records.

Usually I do not rate Aamir Khan movies on a scale of 5 or 10. All I can say is that Ghajini is definitely a “Aamir Khan’ movie! However, just for official record:

My Rating: 4.5 / 5

Aamir Khan!!! You rock man! Amazing Body. Initially I thought your Body Building is a total Hype. But after watching the movie, it is justified totally with the Violent Gory Action Sequences. Asin too deserves a good praise as she has done wonderful for her debut in Bollywood. I am sure Anusha of RBDJ is no where in the scene now

All I can say is WATCH THIS MOVIE! You won’t regret it! It almost the end of 2008, and honestly I’d name it the Best Movie of 2008! The production is stunning! Aamir Khan is flawless and and Asin has made one of the best entrances into the Bollywood scene! A fast paced movie for all of you suspense lovers out there. Last but not least AR Rahman has once again done his job! Fantastic, Superb!! 10/10 hands down! Now stop reading reviews, and watch the movie!! =)

“GHAJINI” ye naam 3 saal pehle tamil aur telugu film industries mein dhoom machayi tthi. Ab bollywood mein dhoom machine aaie hai aur wo bhi Aamir Khan jaise umda actor se judkar. So, expectations tho bhari hona hi tha. Lekin, sorry to say, tamil verson mein performances, dialogues, music, background score jitney perfect jud gaye tthe utne perfect hindi mein jud nahi paaye. So, Surya(Tamil version ka lead Actor) ne jitna maahole kiya tha utna maahole shayad Aamir Khan nahi kar payenge.
ACTING ki bath kare tho sabse pehle Asin. Hindi mein bhi same jaadu chala paaie.Especially marne ke waqt ke scene mein thho excellent performance dikhaie. Aamir ne bhi achha kiya. Unki 8 pack body tho stunts ke liye badhiya set hua. Lekin kahi kahi unse over acting karvaya gaya. May be mass public ko bhi attract karke huge HIT pane ke liye hoga.
MUSIC tho jaise A.R.Rehman ka hai he nahi aisa lag raha ttha. ‘Hai Gujarish’ ke siva sabhi songs average tthe. CINEMATOGRAPHY achhi thi, khaskar songs mein aur climax scenes mein, narrow galiyon mein badhiya shoot kiya. PRODUCTION values weak tthe. Jab south ke koi purane filmmaker hindi mein movie banate hai tho yek bath hamesha dhyan mein rakhni chahiye ki dialogues, scenes 90’s ki tarah bilkul na ho. Bhadi Umrwale ye log present Bollywood audience ki pasand ko samjhe.
DIRECTOR Murudass ne halanki tamil version mein jo mistakes tthe wo nikal diye, lekin poore film mein original film se badhkar koi jadu nahi dikha paye. Lekin tamil ho ya hindi, director ki intelligent screenplay ko tho manna hi padega, khaskar diary ke end ke saath flashback ko bhi perfect situation par rokhne ki tarkeeb excellent aur Asin ki maut ka scene ttho sabke mann ko chuleta hai.
Jinhone tamil verson nahi dekhe ho ve jarur dekhne jaye aur jinhone tamil verson dekha hai ve sirf Aamir ka naya roop dekhne jaa sakhte hai BUS.

This is the first positive review that I am reading about this movie. So far I’ve only read or heard people ripping it apart. I am still trying to decide whether to watch it or not?

Best movie of the year! i am a die hard fan of shahrukh, and always jeolous of aamir. but this time i will have to say ghajini is way too good movie than the SRK shit called RNBDJ which was pathetic..

GHAJINI rocks! It is beautiful! It is a movie with a soul…you really root for the suave to maniac convert called Aamir and this he does with aplomb! I have seen memento a dozen times (to understand the way the movie was made). Ghajini is an Indian simplification with a much more elaborate setup. For those who compare the 2 movies you need to understand that one is cinema noir and the other a very commercial, very masaledaar Indian movie! Never have you seen such violence and never has Aamir appeared fantastically violent! Kudos to Asin too…I missed her after she was gone! Keep it up Aamir…more power to you…may your kind increase! SRK FANS????? still hiding arent ya :) )))

Admittedly I am a big SRK fan (even my car’s licenceplate is SRK!), but hats off to amir for a job wonderfully done! Apart from Asin and Amir, even Ghajini with his “short term memory loss” dialogues was very convincing – which made the final vengeance scene with Amir taking it out on Ghajini more enjoyable. Asin was fresh and sweet – and such a stark contrast to the moronic medical student (Jiah Khan). Folks for anybody out there who still has not watched the movie yet -pls do yourselves a favor and buy a legit ticket and watch it on the big screen. Dont waste yr time watching porn at home. Wish you a safe and happy new year !!

Horrible direction :. What a waste of a good actor. Background score crappy
    Direction: very loose
Looks like I was watching a 10 year old sunny deol movie ..

  12. nuklear Says: January 5th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

@Neo: Something wrong with you. May be you should watch it again and try and understand the movie. I mean if you are the kind of Guy who likes movies like “Rab ne Bana Di Jodi” and stuff, then Please Vanish!!

  13. Rajguru Says: January 18th, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Are Kishore paaji , maine dono versions tamil and Hindi dekhein hain. there is no comparison dude. Tamil version’s last half an hour was the most stupidest climax to such a great beginning which is made up for in the Hindi version. There is no comparison between Surya and Aamir dude..Aamir has emoted much more effeciently than Surya. Background music in the hindi version is much better than the Tamil version. Overall Hindi version is much better and effective than the Tamil version.
@nuclear dont worry yaar @neo jaise exceptions to har rule main hotein hain yaar. Maybe thats why he didnt even justify what he felt…maybe he cant, no hard feelings dude
