The two-door lifestyle model from Fiat, the Fiat 500, was launched in India at a ceremony in Mumbai on 18th July 2008. It would be available in two variants in the Indian market. Fiat 500 is irresistibly cute to look at, and for a passer-by on the outside, it looks refreshing too. It has got all the right design cues and elements that evoke the 1957 Nuova 500.
The engine empowering the 500 is the award winning 1.3 Multijet diesel, that also powers the Palio, Swift and DZire.
At Rs 15 lakh, the 500 is terribly expensive and available at only six dealerships in India. It is just a halo car to re-establish the New Fiat brand in the country. But everything said and done, its predecessor was timeless, and this one, modern though it may be, is already heading towards becoming a cult classic……
Very True. Fiat have messed up with their strategy in terms of model launches. They should have first established themselves as a strong service provider & then they should have launched the car which would appeal to the mass. May be they should have launched liena & punto than 500. Hope they are well placed this time for the Indian battle.
