Former television entertainer and “Tonight Show” announcer, Ed McMahon is in the hospital in serious condition. According to TMZ.com, McMahon, 85, has been hospitalized due to complications from pneumonia and
other medical conditions. His rep has confirmed to Fox News that McMahon is in the hospital. “He is in the hospital. It is serious.” He also goes on to say, “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers.” McMahon has been in the hospital for several days now. The rep would not release what medical center he was receiving treatment at or what other medical conditions that he was suffering from.
Ed McMahon was Johnny Carson’s sidekick and announcer on the “Tonight Show” for about 30 years. He also was the spokesperson for the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes for several years. Most recently, McMahon has been in the news due to financial difficulties and almost foreclosing on his home. He blames his money problems on not being able to work due to breaking his neck when he fell in 2007. Ever the entertainer, McMahan did a spoof about himself and his financial problems for a commercial for CashForGold.com that aired during the Super Bowl.
