To keep pace with Asus’s successful flights in the Ultra portable laptop race, Dell has launched its latest Dell Inspiron Mini 12. It has set industry benchmarks with launching the first 12 inch notepad. Dell in its new avatar will put forth two variants; 1.3GHz Atom Z520 model and a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 version.

2008 OS options will be handled by Windows XP and Ubuntu. Come 2009 and Windows Vista will gear up to take the baton from XP. 6-cell battery upgrade will be another welcome relief. Those having worked on Dell gizmos before have had their complaint books open for battery deficits.
Mini 12 is definitely larger but at the same time thinner, standing at 21 mm.
Though it is slated to be released this November, local distributors are expected to have the final say regarding the release. It is being made available for $600. This might not be too small a price but given that the form factor design for the Inspiron is superb, the price may be well worth it.
Mini 12 and Mini 9 are fighting for their debut. It may be worthwhile for the Dell team to push away the mini 9 plan and get going with the apparently better mini 12. This might turn out to be a better business idea.
