They have come up with a laptop that costs only Rs. 500. Named Sakshat laptop, the break-through invention is due to be displayed in Tirupathi on the 3rd of Feb at the national Mission of Education conference.
The instrument is Wifi and Ethernet enabled and is packed with visible memory of 2 GB. The power necessity is only 2 W. Sakshat laptops will be on display in Tirupathi on 3 February, at the launch of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology.
The initial prices are getting to about Rs. 1000 but it is believed that the production in bulk would take the price down to about half. If successful, it will have broadening impact.
The state governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have already been in talks with major book publishers to download textbook in the Sakshat laptops. There is union budget allocation on education every year, and if the laptops are wholly welcomed, education would take a grand leap even in villages.
