Thursday, January 8th, 2009Tata Nano – People’s Car with a Difference

Tata Nano, dubbed as the people’s car is set to launched this March after much delay. The booking also which would open around second week of February is a source of great enthusiasm for all those who were anticipating the cheapest car in the history (taking inflation into account) with bated breath. Tata had earlier talked about a first quarter release. But then, we always thought the Uttarkhand plant was hardly up for shuttling out Nano in the first month.
With Nano, India’s automotive giant can take the international masters face-on at the home turf. This was made difficult for the Indian manufacturer’s as there was a virtual onslaught of international brands.
Tata Nano is a small car which seats four and works with a rear engine. Tata is looking to propose the car at 100000 INR that is tantamount to 2000 USD. Tata Nano heralds the present day thesis of the world. Smaller, cheaper more portable things are looking to shine in the market and this is just one such thing.
It uses just the perfect technical angle. Can you believe in a modern day car without welded joints and adhesives? Compared to Maruti, it has 21% higher interior space. It’s made in a way that it can exude comfort even with limitations of experimentation. The car will have three versions; one small and two deluxe ones.
And yes, all those who though that the car might just be an upgraded version of an auto rickshaw with four wheels. Lo and behold! It’s a properly designed car that looks as good as the low-segment niche models.

Ex showroom price of Nano at delhi will be Rs. 1,00,000 only !

Nano Booking
Bookings for the Rs 1 lakh Nano will begin by February-end. The booking amount for the same would be around Rs 70,000 which is about 70% of the car’s total cost. Waiting period would be quite long considering the demand & the hype it has got.
State Bank of India which has a tie up with Tata motors for all financial transactions w.r.t Nano is another smart move my the Tata’s in the auto industry. All dealers of Tata Motors and branches of State Bank of India (SBI) will accept bookings simultaneously across the country in the next three weeks.
Initial bookings of over one lakh cars is expected & the company hopes to collect around Rs 700 crore in just a few weeks. Allotment will be made through a draw & few may even buy it in black market to become proud oweners of the Nano. Nano would be launched in March 2009 with cars rolling out from the Pantnagar plant in Uttranchal.
Nano’s launch had been scheduled for 2008 but plans got derailed when Tatas were forced out of Singur in West Bengal.
Allergies in New York – Dr. Boyan Hadjiev, NY
Friday, December 26th, 2008Dealing with allergies is tough no matter where you live, but if you’re in the New York area,
you just don’t have time to deal with an allergy. This is especially true if you live in NewYork City, but no matter where you are in New York or in the surrounding states, today’s fast-paced lifestyle just doesn’t leave you any time to feel under the weather. Dealing with allergies, however, can be made easier if you understand what causes them and how you can prevent them.
First, you need to list your allergy symptoms. Are you sneezing a lot? Do you have a runny nose, a headache, or sinus pressure? Knowing what symptoms you have can help narrow down the cause of your allergies. Be certain you are actually experiencing an allergic reaction, too. If you’re in New York City, for example, you may just have caught a 24-hour flu bug or cold from someone because you come in contact with so many people every day.
Once you know what your allergy symptoms are, it’s time to consult an expert to find out exactly what is causing them. One of these experts is Dr. Boyan Hadjiev of Advanced Allergy, Asthma and Sinusitis P.C. He and his staff are experts in their field, and they’re ready to assist you in diagnosing and treating allergies, asthma, and sinus problems. They’re constantly learning new techniques and preparing treatment plans based on the newest medical breakthroughs in allergies.
What might Dr. Hadjiev diagnose you with? Below are some of the most common types of allergies that you may have and how to avoid them.
Food allergies only appear when you eat a specific type of food or seasoning. Sometimes, these allergies are very apparent and even life-threatening. Those who have a peanut allergy, for example, may actually find their throat closing up and have difficulty breathing. People who have a milk allergy, too, may immediately know the source of their allergy if they have an immediate reaction after drinking milk. However, it’s not always this obvious.
There are actually people who are, for example, allergic to parsley. Parsley is used to garnish many different meals, and people rarely even notice it on their plate. Few would think their allergies were caused by this small green decoration, but some are. If you believe your allergies are food-related, Dr. Hadjiev will help you examine your diet and the times your allergies flared up to see if there is any connection.
Asthma and allergy reactions often go hand in hand. One such connection comes from being exposed to harsh chemicals like cleaning supplies. It is possible to breathe in a dangerous amount of Lysol and other cleaners. Once you have, these chemicals can damage your lungs and cause asthma. If you breathe these chemicals in again, you may have an allergic reaction that causes breathing difficulties. However, you don’t have to be exposed to anything to have asthma. In fact, the most common type of asthma is called allergy-induced asthma and only occurs when you come into contact with something you’re allergic to. This can be anything from simple dust to pet dander to chemicals.
Some people also suffer from skin allergy. This type of allergy occurs when you touch something you’re allergic to. Once you do, you’ll notice the area of contact is red or has a rash. Sometimes, this rash extends over a large amount of your body. Common skin allergies include hives, eczema, and contact dermatitis. Some of these are caused by cosmetics or topical medication. Some skin allergies only manifest as a rash, but some are accompanied by itching. One of the most well-known forms of contact dermatitis that itches is poison ivy.
Dr. Hadjiev and his team go out of their way to stay current in the field of allergies and asthma by attending many different conferences, including international conferences, and reading the latest medical journals. This continuing education keeps them on the leading edge of their field and helps them recognize many different rashes and other skin allergies right away. If you notice any strange rash, a quick meeting with Dr. Hadjiev often ends with a prescription for an allergy medicine that will stop the itching and clear your skin up very quickly.
Another common allergy is a gluten allergy. In fact, this allergy is so common that about one in every 30 adults have it! There are many symptoms of a gluten allergy, but these symptoms are so common, it’s hard to tell if you’re experiencing an allergic reaction or if you’re experiencing something else. You may experience fatigue, weight loss, diarrhea, osteoporosis, constipation, depression, skin problems, difficulty focusing, and general irritability. There are also some more distinctive symptoms like anemia, mouth ulcers, and more, but overall, it’s hard to immediately narrow it down to a gluten allergy.
To truly discover if you are having an allergic reaction to gluten or if you have something like celiac, you need to visit an expert. Again, Dr. Hadjiev is more than qualified to perform the tests necessary and to prescribe various allergy medications and create treatment plans to help you overcome your gluten allergy.
There are many other types of allergies as well. Some are seasonal, while others may be overcome with a lifestyle change. If you’re allergic to pets, for example, you may decide that you need to give up your pet in order to live better. However, if you want to keep your dog or cat, Dr. Hadjiev can help you find ways to do that while still controlling your allergies.
In addition to continually training and keeping on top of the latest research in allergies and asthma, Dr. Hadjiev also does his best to accommodate his clients. He knows people in New York are constantly on the go and don’t have time to wait around for an appointment. He sets his schedule and his appointments so there is minimal wait time and maximum face to face time. This means you’ll be able to get in, see Dr. Hadjiev, and get back to your family or your job with little time wasted. Dr. Hadjiev is even willing to work around busy schedules and set appointments after standard business hours if that’s what it takes.
Dealing with allergies is not a pleasant experience, but there’s no need to simply live with them. If you’re in New York and want to free yourself from the sneezing, runny nose, or worse that occurs whenever you have an allergic reaction, contact Dr. Hadjiev today. He can set you on the path to living the allergy-free life you deserve.

An online currency converter generally works for most of the world’s top currency. This can vary from 80-165 depending upon the compass of the website. These online currency exchange calculators can also be used for metal conversion rates.

This year’s Miss World pageant will take place on December 13th in Johannesburg, South Africa. The pageant had originally been scheduled to take place in Kiev, Ukraine, but the recent crisis in the area caused the pageant officials to change the location.
On the final night of the pageant, last year’s winner Zhang Zilin will pass the crown over to the new winner. The contest is said to bring in one billion television viewers to see who will be the current year’s winner. This year has the contest bringing in an interesting new twist – for the first time, the public can participate in the judging of the contestants.
Contestants are judged based on their beauty, poise, intelligence and glamour and there will only be one winner to take the crown from among every country in the world. The people’s choice aspect of the award allows viewers to pick their favorite and boost them into the final round of contestants. You are able to view the contestants on the Miss World website and see the finalists as they go through the rigorous requirements to be in the top few who have a chance at winning.
The contest has had a long history and actually began in the 1950’s; ever since has created some attention grabbing headlines for the show. In the beginning, it was the costumes that grabbed the attention but over the years the rules and policies have changed. The first winner of the Miss World pageant was not only the first winner to achieve the crown; she was also the last winner to be crowned in a two piece bathing suit.
The pageant has had its share of criticism from feminists over the years, but maintains that the winners are considered for their intelligence as well as their beauty and talent. Despite the criticism, it still is a favorite among fans of beauty contests.
Contestants in the pageant have gone on to have successful careers in modeling and acting. Most notably, actress Halle Berry stunned the world when she appeared in the 1986 contest with a bikini of stars and beads. She didn’t win the contest, but has more than made up for it with her acting career.
In the Miss World 2008 pageant, the contestants are already gearing up for a difficult contest. Miss Iceland has already been crowned Miss World 2008 sportswoman for her efforts on the sporting field. The one hundred and twelve contestants all took part in a range of activities and were split up into teams. At the end of the day it was Miss Iceland that impressed the judges with her athletic prowess.
You can have your say on the People’s Choice winner by logging in to the official site of the Miss World 2008 website and casting your vote. Make sure that you read what the contestants have been up to while they are spending their time in Johannesburg. The contest promises to be a tough fight for the one hundred and twelve contestants and that is what will make it an exciting event to watch.

Posted in Entertainment, World 7 Comments »Christmas Traditions 2008
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008Christmas is a joyous occasion for people where families get together to celebrate their happiness and express their gratitude for the prosperity they enjoy. However Christmas traditions and celebrations differ widely in different regions in the United States. Even then there are some common traditional elements to this wonderful holiday that binds people together.

The celebration and preparation for this wonderful occasion begins immediately after Thanksgiving. Houses are cleaned and decorated for the momentous celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Many houses are decorated with popular Christmas motifs such as Santa, reindeers, snowflakes, lighting and other traditional Christmas elements such as mistletoe and holly. Some households choose to place a crèche to represent and signify the stable where Christ was born.
The Christmas tree is wonderfully decorated with lighting, baubles and an assortment of other items. The Christmas tree is also topped with a star and this signifies the Star of Bethlehem or the angel that declared the birth of Jesus. The placement of the tree is done in a manner wherein it is visible to people passing by on the street. Candles are lighted and special prayers are arranged as a part of Christmas celebrations.
The most important among all Christmas traditions is the Christmas dinner where roasted turkey with vegetables and a variety of sauces is served in many households. This delicious Christmas spread also includes other delectable and traditional food items such as mashed potatoes and gravy, Christmas pudding and mince pies among other items. It snows in many states during Christmas and so dinners are normally set indoors. Many families celebrate this wonderful occasion by exchanging gifts with the extended family and friends during the twelve days of this celebration. Sending Christmas cards to families and friends is also among the popular Christmas traditions and these cards are arranged around the house. Many families select a card on every one of the twelve nights of this celebration and read it out at the dinner table. Prayers are said and blessings are given to family and friends at dinner time.
Midnight Mass or Midnight services are a very important part of Christmas traditions. These services are held on Christmas Eve and families attend these services. Carols are sung and church bells are rung in true Christmas spirit. Other activities are also planned during this time such as live Nativity scenes and choir concerts. Many families, church groups and schools visit nursing homes where Christmas songs are sung and small gifts are given to the patients in the true spirit of sharing. Reading is also among the most significant Christmas traditions. Many families read “The night before Christmas” on the occasion of Christmas Eve while others read stories from the Bible while sitting near the Christmas tree. Many families choose to have a birthday cake for Christ as a part of the celebration. Christmas morning is a magical occasion and children as well as adults hang stockings on mantels.
The customs and traditions for Christmas may change over a period of time but the spirit of giving that underlies this wonderful celebration remains unaltered.

Joern Utzon Dead
Monday, December 1st, 2008
Joern Utzon, the Danish architect most known for designing the Sydney Opera House (Australia) passed away on Saturday November 29, 2008. He died from a heart attack in his sleep in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Since Thursday, Utzon had not been doing well undergoing a series of operations. Sydney Opera House architect, Joern Utzon, dies at 90. He drew up the design for the Sydney opera house in 1957.
He quit this project in 1966 — 7 years before this internationally acclaimed building was finished due to scandals about cost blowouts and design arguments. As a result Government appointed architects took over and the interior was not completed to Joern Utzon’s original design plan.
In 2003, this Danish Architect was finally awarded the prestigious Pritzker award (architecture’s highest honor). The jury singled out the Sydney Opera House as one of the most iconic buildings of the 20th Century, arguing it “proves that the marvelous and seemingly impossible in architecture can be achieved”.

The Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, paid a tribute to the “visionary” architect today.
“Joern Utzon was a visionary architect whose legacy includes one of the world’s most spectacular and inspiring buildings, the Sydney Opera House,” Mr Rudd said in a statement.
“Standing proudly on the edge of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of our nation.”

Utzon also designed the National Assembly building in Kuwait City. He along with his sons, Kim and Jan, designed several projects in partnership, including a church in Bagsvaerd, a Copenhagen suburb, which opened in 1976, and a furniture and design showroom, known as Paustian, in the Copenhagen harbor that was completed in 1983.
Utzon won several awards for his work, including the Order of Australia in 1985 and the Sonning Prize for contributing to European culture in 1988.
Utzon is survived by his wife and their three children, Kim, Jan and Lin, and several grandchildren. Funeral plans were not immediately announced.

Posted in World 2 Comments »Christmas Gift Ideas 2008
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008It’s that time of the year again and the pressure to buy bigger and better Christmas presents is greater
than it has ever been before. People no longer want the same socks and chocolate treats that they once did and they are becoming more and more demanding with regards to their Christmas gift ideas list.
For 2008, the unusual Christmas gifts available for the loved ones in your life are becoming more accessible. The internet has opened the way for gifts with a certain edge and appeal to them, making even the most miserable of people crack a smile. This year, it is time to make the best use of the internet for your gift ideas and see if you cannot come up with some imaginative ideas of your own.
Firstly you must look at the budget that you can allow yourself for your unusual Christmas 2008 gift ideas. Santa’s sack may seem to be endless but your funds may not be, so setting a budget and shopping around is the best way to go. However no matter what your budget is this year, there are some fantastic and unusual gifts that can be purchased.
Children are the easiest people to buy for, especially when you are on a budget. Simple gift ideas, such as a “Grow Your Own Vegetable Patch” is a brilliant way to keep them occupied as well as providing an educational gift that can be tended to and cared for at the same time. This is perhaps a novel way of avoiding the “can I have a pet?” question that gets asked by thousands of children every year, while also teaching them that living things require caring for and looking after. A grow your own kit can be bought from the cheaper end of the pricing spectrum from many sites online and can provide your children with hours of entertainment.
If you are looking for slightly more expensive gifts for the children in your life, then you can always get them an adventure weekend voucher that again, can be bought online. These sites will very often offer a massive range of ideas such as dolphin and whale watching, which are perfect for both younger and older children alike. Gifts such as these may be slightly more expensive in the grand scheme of things, but will provide memories that will last for a lifetime; these memories will last a little longer than a Barbie doll or clothes!
For the bigger kids in your life, such as the husband or partner, you should take a look at the passions in their life. If they are a football fan, it’s a great idea to get them shares in their favourite football club. Obviously the price these will cost will vary depending on how many shares are purchased and of course the size of the club itself or they can always be kitted out with the latest strip for that particular season to make a perfect and complete gift for any sports fan.
These shares that can be bought are not limited to sports teams either. They can be purchased in a number of different companies, such as the Playboy mansion empire for the men or well known chocolate and candy companies for the ladies. Again, the shares will vary in price depending on how many are bought, etc but you will find that even one share will offer the recipient of the gift regular updates on the company as well as invitations to certain company events, meaning that once again, this is a gift that can last a lifetime and can also be added to on future occasions.
Staying on the chocolate theme, there are complete packages that can be bought to provide the recipient of the gift with a fully recognised qualification in the art of making and tasting chocolate. This would be perfect for the lady in your life and can provide a refreshing addition to even the most professional of resumes. However, if chocolate is not your gift of choice, you can also buy these recognised qualifications in wine tasting and foods of the world, making them perfect for anyone who is particularly fond of fine dining and fine wine.
For the avid party-goer, there is nothing quite as useful as after party shoes. These are small foldable flat shoes that can be placed in the handbag or back pocket to provide welcome relief from the pain associated with new and high heeled shoes after a long night out. They are pretty and come in a range of designs, meaning that the look is not spoilt, no matter what time of the night they are put on!
For the green fingered people out there, there is a massive range of grow your own gift boxes, as already mentioned for the children, and these include growing your own tea and coffee, chillies, vegetables and flowers. Again, depending on which particular ones are bought, the price varies from the lower end of the scale up to the higher end.
There is such a massive range of Christmas 2008 gifts that can be bought both on and off line and these are very much dependent on how much you are looking and willing to spend. For those looking toward the higher end of the budget, there are race track days and car gift sets that are perfect for those looking for a more thrilling Christmas 2008 gift. Ferrari’s and other exotic cars can be raced or driven for a set price and the more luxurious the car, the more expensive the gift will be.
There are also water rafting gifts, skydiving gifts and even holiday vouchers that can be given to the loved ones in your life for a slightly more unusual Christmas present.
For the lower scale of the budget, there are gifts for two that can be bought to combine two presents in one. These may include indoor skydiving, dinner and cruises and even trips to nice hotels, although the latter will cost a little bit more.
Unusual gifts for Christmas 2008 need not be a major problem and all it really depends on is the budget you have set for this purpose as well as a tiny bit of imagination. For more ideas, the internet is a mine of information for Christmas gift ideas and inspiration, and with a little bit of comparison shopping you are guaranteed to find the perfect gift for your family and friends this Christmas 2008!
