Saturday, November 29th, 2008Finally, you get to learn Internet Marketing with a personal mentor

It’s really an unusual thing in Internet Marketing Niche. There are literally millions of products, services and more products. You can spend millions buying all the important stuff to learn internet marketing.
I have recently stumbled upon a unique service that is providing a personal mentor to help people learn internet marketing step by step. And the most amazing thing was that the service only costs $27/month.
I read the sales letter and thought this could be my best investment.
When I logged in, I found only a few tutorials and guides. When I asked the mentor where all those courses you advertised on the sales letter are, he said that he is doing everything step by step. He doesn’t want to overwhelm people, so he started with a unique copywriting course. At the end of the course, you’ll be asked to write a sales letter and a online ads. He will mark your copy and advise you on your weak points. As soon as you pass the first segment, he will post the second segment.
It was a pleasant surprise to me. I thought it was nothing more than a simple membership site. But when I downloaded the stuff, I was blown away. I never thought copywriting would be so easy and he told me that this skill will help me earn loads of money online. I couldn’t contradict him.
If you want to learn internet marketing like a pro, you should head over to www.techtecs.com and Sign up. Hey, it’s only $27 and I think most of you can afford that to learn how to make money online.

Friday, November 28th, 2008There are many reasons for one to consider transferring a Wordpress blog from one host to another, for example from BlueHost to HostGator. One of the most common reasons for this transfer is the unreliable service of the original host, where downtime could be as much as several minutes a day. If you are experiencing such problems, here is some advice on how to move a Wordpress Blog to another host.
The first thing to do is to upgrade your Wordpress installation so that it matches the script version of the new host. Then you have to backup all your files and databases on the Wordpress blog, including all uploaded files, images, plug-ins and theme files.
Back up all files and folders
All personal files that have to be transferred also need to be backed up. You could use the help of an FTP program such as FileZilla to do this, for its ease of use and keeping files on your hard disk in a proper manner.
Make sure you identify the database name of your Wordpress blog and then back it up using phpMyadmin and it’s better to backup not one, but several copies of your database. With your database, files to be transferred and all folders and files in the wp-content folder, you can proceed to the next step of this transfer.
With the help of your domain registrar control panel, you have to change the name server of your existing domain to the name server of your new hosting company. This step takes some time to complete; so in the meantime, ensure that you can access your FTP server, to where you upload files to the new host with the help of the FTP program.
If the FTP program connects correctly, use Fantastico or any other script installation service found on cPanel to do a fresh Wordpress installation on your new host. With this done, the database has to be deleted.
Approach the new host technical support for more memory space
The next step lies in using the FTP program to upload files from your wp-content folder to the same folder of the new installation. After uploading, your old blog’s database has to be uploaded to your new host with the help of phpMyAdmin. For databases larger than 8MB’s you have to request the technical support of your new hosting company to import it for you.
The last step in the transfer of your Wordpress blog to a new host lies in connecting the new Wordpress installation to the imported database. This is done by editing the required database information found in the wp-config.php file of the root folder of the installation. This has to be done according to the name of the imported database, your user name, password and the host name, which is usually localhost.
By following all these steps you should be able to have your new blog working as usual on the new host.

Google added a new Gmail Themes feature on Wednesday, Nov 20th, that will allow you to Customize the look and feel of your Gmail Account.
Currently you have a choice of abut 30 new gmail themes that can be accessed via Settings > Themes (check out the details below). At present they do not allow you to create your own customized themes. Gmail will soon allow you to come with your own customized themes since this is just the beginning of the experiment.
These new themes are definitely a big improvement over the old boring style. I’m currently using the “Shiny theme“, which I feel is very sleek, clean and professional.
Why can’t I see this new Gmail Themes Feature in my Account
Google usually takes some time to actually roll-out these things. I wonder how long it will be before this actually goes live. They are gradually rolling out the themes for Gmail starting with its selected users, and will be available to all in a couple of days.
Check for more details here on the official Gmail blog.
New Gmail Homepage
How to Change your Gmail theme
- Login to your Gmail Account
- Click on the Settings link (on the top right corner)
- You will see an additional ‘Themes tab‘ as the last tab of your Settings Area. If you don’t see the new ‘Themes’ tab, just wait a while. Google is still rolling out their theme feature to its large user base.

- Click on any theme from the list of themes and your new preferences will be saved.
- You can always switch back to the previous theme by selecting “Classic” in the Theme Settings page.
Wait.. Google is not done yet. Google is said to also integrate Social networking functionality to your Gmail Accounts very soon.

Google video chat
Gmail video chat is picking up but there are certain issues which need to be resolved. First and foremost is the lag time. The data in the chat probably goes to Google yards and from there it is reflected to a second person in the chat. This causes consistent delay. The chatters get a poor feeling of fragmented chat.
The audio transmission is impeccable or at least nearly so. Voice from one side to the other knocks within a very short time. Mobilizing overseas voice communication has been one of the top strength of Google voice chat. In fact the champion search engine is aligning the overseas communication in a very economic format.
The proprietary plug in runs video in the H.264 mode; Google is perhaps utilizing a server that can deliver the present H.264 mode to a flash client in a browser.
Gmail video chat can be downloaded for free. For seeing the person you are involved in a chat with, you need to download Festoon. Google talk presently does not support web cam chatting. With the present addition of video chat, Google will give Skype a run for its money.
Google surely does believe in multi-dimension.

Google SEO Tips – Want to rank higher in Google SERP’s? If you’ve ever worked on a website, you’ve probably stumbled across the term SEO. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the “science” (some might say art form) of writing the text and metadata tags of a website so that search engines like Google will see the site as an authority on whatever subject it covers. It is then listed higher in the list of search results for the subject. There are various ways people use to make their websites as SEO friendly as possible, and some work better than others. Below are some tips for making your website more Google SEO friendly so that it ends up listed on page one rather than page one hundred.
Practical SEO Tips for Google That Work
- Don’t forget the meta tags! Many people forget to include keywords in their meta data because it’s not an obvious thing. When webpage’s were constructed in text editors, all the tags and behind the scenes information had to be entered. Now, however, people can make web pages in programs like Expression or Dreamweaver without ever seeing the code and it’s very easy to forget to enter keyword tags since you don’t ever see them on the actual webpage itself.
- Likewise, make certain to give each webpage a title (the text that appears on the top blue bar in Internet Explorer). Titles, like meta tags, may not contribute to the content on the page but are vital to search engine results.
- Another thing not to forget is to fill in those ALT tags on images. ALT tags contain the text that will appear on a page if your image doesn’t load for some reason, and they are yet another place you can stick in important keywords that describe your website and your content.
- Make sure your site is error-free. Sometimes, errors in XHTML, Flash, or other plug-ins can cause a search engine to misinterpret what your website is about.
- Write more content. A page with only a few sentences won’t be seen as informative by Google’s search software. These pages will be ranked lower than pages with a higher word count. What is considered the optimal word count varies from person to person. Some say you need only around 500 words of text on a page while others claim it’s better to have upwards of 3,000 or so. The more words you have, the likelier you’ll perfectly match a Google query. However, if you find yourself adding in filler content just to make longer pages, you may want to consider how a real person will react to the text. People rarely want to read redundant information.
- Be aware of how many times you use your keywords in the text. Ideally, you want each of your keywords to appear four or five times on a page, but it depends on how long your pages are. If you have 500 words of text, you may not be able to work in all of your keywords five times. On the other hand, if you have 3,000 words, you can probably use keywords eight to ten times and still have natural sounding sentences. Be careful here: if your keyword density is too low, Google won’t pick up on the word as a keyword, but if it’s too high, Google may decide your page is full of SEO spam and penalize it accordingly.
- Use your keywords at least once in the first few sentences of your page. The closer a keyword is to the top of a webpage, the more significant Google sees it.
- Google robots like to see bigger websites. Generally, they believe that a site with more pages has more information and should be ranked higher. Likewise, sites that grow and expand are more favorably ranked over those that never add new pages or content.
- Focus on your main page(homepage) first. This is the page that search engines look at the most, so you want it to contain all of your keywords.
- Google’s search programs can’t read images. This means if you use keywords in buttons or on banners at the top of your page, they will have no effect on the page’s rank. If you use images for your navigation, try to add in actual text links on your page as well. At the very least, make certain you add image ALT text to the buttons and banners.
- Avoid the word “click“. Many spam pages, especially ones that are trying to sell products or get people to join pyramid schemes, use the word “click” excessively. Google tends to rank pages that include this word lower since they are more often than not spam.
- Include descriptive text in your links. If you’re linking to a site, use the site title or a description of it in the anchor link text instead of saying “click here” (plus, this helps you avoid that dirty C-word!).
- Google ranks words in italics, bold, or that are underlined as being more important. Be sure to bold a few keywords here and there on your site. Don’t do this to every keyword, though. Besides looking very odd to humans on your site, search engines will see too much of this as suspicious.
- When it comes to keyword phrases, Google does not notice punctuation. This means that “dog beds” and “dog: beds” are actually seen as the same. Taking advantage of this lets you work in keyword phrases in ways that don’t seem as repetitive.
- Avoid frames if possible. Pages that appear inside frames don’t contain their own title, and often they don’t have links to the other pages on your site since the links are on the frame. Google likes to see links and titles on each page.
- If your page isn’t going to be updated often, consider adding a blog to it. As stated earlier, Google ranks pages that add new content higher than pages that haven’t changed for three years. If your website isn’t going to need new content on a regular basis, add a blog. You can then blog about business specials, conferences you’ve attended recently, review new products related to your site, and more.
Making your site Google SEO friendly isn’t a one-time thing. As time goes by, you’ll need to review your SEO work to see if it still applies. Search engines are evolving, and as their SEO algorithms change, they pick up on different things as SEO-friendly. You’ll regularly need to look at what keywords you’re using, where you are using those keywords, and what content your website has.
Despite all of these tips about keyword writing, there’s one very, very important thing to remember that will seem very contrary: don’t write your webpage’s for Google’s robots. First and foremost, you need to write for the actual human beings who are going to be reading your site, especially if you want them to take some action or buy a product. Search engine rank is important, true, but not so important that you risk alienating your customers. This is why search engine optimization is difficult—you want a page that appeals to both humans and Google robots. It can be a challenge to balance well-written, informative text against text sprinkled with keywords and other Google attention-getting devices. With a little work and use of these google tips, however, you can create well-written webpage’s that will also rank highly on Google.

Monday, November 3rd, 2008For those having a penchant towards Beta Software, the good news is that the latest WordPress 2.7 Beta 1 is available for testing. It is recommended to test the software in a proper testing ambience rather than doing it on a live blog. The browser for the software is still running technical snags and thus you are well advised to test it with either Firefox or Safari. Snags should not be a worrying factor as they should be resolved by the time of release.
The software is blessed with visual designs and it will have the additional bonus of IE and Opera before it is finally released.
The release was earlier slated for the second week of November but it has been procrastinated by a fortnight. The reason given is the necessity of user testing against that finished format. The released candidate made available to us is still a high class material good enough for broad usage. The Beta men will be looking to set right the high-impact bugs which will be presented by beta testers all this fortnight.
Once settled with all the possible snags, the final release line-up will be scheduled. It is only in the fitness of things that the testing software is giving high importance to public beta cycle. No one can actually tell the snags better than the eventual users.

Saturday, November 1st, 2008Flash SEO – Dubious But Redeemable
Flash SEO method has been drawing some serious flak for reducing visibility on the search engine. This is deemed to be true as most of the top search engines cannot connect to interactive images and graphics. They are more or less built on the capability of reading text to comprehend the meaning of pages.
Leading web development tools make the mistake of including flash in web pages with codes that cannot be deciphered by the engines. The right decision might be to leave the default code and use the fundamental HTML content for flash pages. This is a great idea because HTML can be search engine optimized giving an impression as if Flash was never there.
Google has already declared implanting new algorithms that can decipher textual flash content. We can perhaps incorporate a DIV with search engine accessible fundamental text as a Flash SEO method.
Most of the Search engine spiders are not versed with taking care of Flash. They choose to view the elementary text in HTML profile rendering the associated flash a non-issue. This way the SEO flash can be used to exhibit visuals without having to cast out visitors and search engines trained only for text links.

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008Users purchase from a particular site because they trust the brand and consider the company a credible source. If you wish to up your sales and reputation online then you need to build on your credibility.
Here are some tips to accomplish this objective;
Bio/Portfolio page
Users of your site or blog would certainly want to know whom they are doing business with. This is the reason having a biography page is so critical to ensuring added credibility. Do not stop short at just having your photograph and your name on the page but go on to add information about yourself. Try and talk about why you started the site or blog, what motivated its conception and how you got involved in your niche vertical. If you are deeply involved in certain other hobbies or interests then mention them in this space. It will lend another dimension to your personality and people will be able to connect with you and your brand better.
Using video:
Instead of having just plain boring static text, try infusing your site with video as well. It helps break the monotony and provides a face to your brand. Unlike the millions of faceless sites on the Internet, which do not provide too much of a trust value, having video will do wonders for your site. Users will also tend to return to your site more frequently, which is an important requisite in building traffic to your site or blog. The longer a user takes in browsing your site and watching videos, the better your organic rankings on popular search engines.
Educate instead of selling:
Users hate to be goaded into buying something by way of ads. If your site has too many of these advertisements and pop-ups, then it is time to minimize them. Make sure your site informs your target users about your niche vertical and products instead of trying to sell them something. Most users are bored of seeing so many ads online and having them on your site helps take away your credibility.
Fresh perspectives:
Most websites and blogs tend to recycle old content and so after a point users get bored reading the same old content. Hence, always try and infuse a fresh perspective to things. Even if the topic you are writing about is the same it should have something about your personal experience.
High quality freebies:
Most people get skeptical when they see a site offering them a freebie. They take it for granted that there will be a catch involved. However, this is where you need to stand apart from the other blogs and sites. Try and offer users a useful and free gift. This should not ask your users for an email address or make them purchase something. It should be a genuine free gift, which is useful and cannot be obtained readily online.
Positive and negative reviews:
Make sure to highlight positive and negative reviews about your products as that way people will take your brand seriously. People get skeptical when they see reviews, which are too biased to a product.
