However, a few disadvantages of this set are worth considering before you swipe your card. This handheld has no 3G support and the shutter key is also found to be quite rigid. The flash does not work in the video recording mode.
Nokia 3600 slide vs Nokia 6600 Slide
If you had a choice between nokia 3600 slide or the Nokia 6600 slide, I would go for the latter. Both of them have the same features but the NOKIA 6600 silde has a better design and 3g capabilities.
But then, the affordability of this phone makes up for these minute faults. So get your bucks out and set yourself to flaunt your latest mobile.

Saturday, September 27th, 2008
The new N-Series Nokia N79 is releasing in the 4 Quarter of 2008 before Christmas. The looks are almost similar to the recently launched N78, although differences can be seen in the Layout of the Keys in the current version. Nokia Claims that, this New Nokia N79 is the smallest, slimmest N-Series phone that it has ever released.
It comes with 5 different Back Covers (Light Sea Blue, Espresso Brown, Olive Green, White and Coral Red), out of which 3 different smart back covers are shipped along with the phone. The cool thing about these back covers is that if you change the back cover to say, a red one, then, even your background of the Screen would change to a red. This theme switching with different back covers is almost instantaneous as seen in a demo.
Nokia N79 Price: The new handset is expected to be available in October 2008 with a retail price of EUR 350, before taxes and subsidies.

Posted in Gadgets 11 Comments »Wii vs PS3 vs Xbox
Saturday, September 20th, 2008The gaming industry has seen three majors – Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony capturing significant market share. As a user, if you are confused as to which game console is the best, read on to know more.
Diverse approaches
Microsoft and Sony as always are focusing on performance as opposed to the fun aspect of gaming. No wonder then you see fantastic graphics and interfaces that delight users time and again. However, not to be left behind, Nintendo is focusing on delivering fun and playable games, which have special controlling devices. The PS3 has been touted an alternative to the PC, while the Xbox is showcased as being used along with Windows Media Center. Therefore, the Xbox is an extension to regular streamed music as well as movies from PCs. Nintendo Wii focuses on evolving physically challenging games, which is why they have special Nunchuk controllers. The usage of accelerometers help players tilt and swing controllers to provide more interactivity.
Price factory
Sony’s Play station 3 is undoubtedly the most expensive out of all three companies’ consoles. A standard console can cost anywhere between 500 and 600 dollars. However, it comes along with a hard drive, optical drive replete with Blue-ray that provides high definition graphics, wireless controllers based on Bluetooth, video output of high definition quality, wireless and Wi-Fi networking capability. The wireless networking feature is currently available in premium versions of the PS3.
The Xbox comes at a cool 300 or 450 dollars, which is much lesser than the PS3. Unlike the PS3, which has many features in the premium versions, the Xbox only features a hard drive and optical drive powered DVD. There is also a wireless controller for games included. However, in order to be at par with the PS3, recently the Xbox 360 has been updated to include complete high definition video along with video output of 1080 p. The additional HD-DVD player is priced at 180 dollars, which ups the price to the same as the PS3.
The Wii from Nintendo is the least expensive, being priced at 250 dollars. It comes replete with DVD drive and wireless controllers. However, you cannot play DVD movies on Wii.
Multiple functions
The PS3 has been designed to function as a substitute for a regular PC. This is why with the premium versions you get a card reader, SD cards and flash cards, which facilitate photo storage and sharing, mouse and keyboard functionality and a web browser as well. So, in terms of basic functionality, the PS3 can very well be an alternative for a PC. The OS supported by PS3 is Linux and no other OS is supported by the Play Station at present.
In terms of performance, the PS3 is definitely a step ahead with Dolby Digital surround sound and a high definition video playback feature. The games featured in the PS3 are sold at 50 or 60 dollars for each game.
One drawback the Xbox 360 has is its limited hard drive functionality, because of which it cannot be used along with the online video site. The lack of adequate hard drive means one cannot save movies downloaded from the site.
So, Which do you think is the Best Console According to you : Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox or Sony PS3 ?

Posted in Gadgets No Comments »Cect HiPhone – China iPhone Clones
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008
The HiPhone not only looks a lot like the original iPhone, but also comes in a very similar box and has a reversed apple logo. The Tri-Band GSM iPhone from China costs around $165 (or lesser).
Cell phone clones hit boom time
httpv://in.youtube.com/watch?v=TJxkNKtOpJ8
The Chinese Guys copy every idea of the US, when it comes to Gadgets especially, and sell them for a much lesser price. Cect HiPhone is one of those Chinese iPhones which is 99% like an iphone, that is popular in the Asian Markets these days.

Some of the Standard Smartphone Features of HiPhones include;
- Unlocked: Works with any GSM Carrier.
- Dual SIM slots: supports SIM card switching without having to turn off your iPhone
- MP3/MP4 Player
- 2 Mega Pixel Camera with Video
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth
- Two Replaceable Batteries
- WAP & MMS
- Video Recording Capability
It did not fix any of the iPhone’s shortcomings apart from recording video and the additional surround sound speakers not found in the iPhone
Apple iPhone vs Cect HiPhone
httpv://in.youtube.com/watch?v=M3mbLGjTfhU
HiPhone Cons
The good thing about the HiPhones (china iPhones) are, they very much look the same like the iphone and thats it. They come with a whole set of issues;
- Slightly Thicker and Wider: The HiPhone is about 5mm thicker than the real iPhone.
- Smaller 3.2 inch touch screen as opposed to the original 3.5 inch touch screen.
- The HiPhone has a plastic screen rather then the glass front of the original. The screen does not have the clarity or the color of that of the iphone.
- It does not support Java. The Interface is slow and has glitches.
- There is no WiFI or GPS enabled.
- The software that is installed in the HiPhone is known to be buggy and gets hung several times, sometimes not even allowing you to receive a call.
- It Lacks a proper Web Browser.
- The worst thing about that HiPhone is its touchscreen. It doesn’t work very well. It isn’t very touch sensitive and you have to be perfectly accurate.
The HiPhone may look attractive initially considering its decent price savings as compared to the iPhones. But if you want your iPhone to have a long life with no problems, I advice you to go for the iPhone though you may shell out an Additional 200 Bucks, its worth the money. These clone phones are not even close to the quality that apple iPhones offer you.
Dual SIM Mobile Phones
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008Dual SIM mobile phones are basically those in which you can accommodate two SIM cards. Therefore, you could be using the same mobile phone and making calls from two separate numbers! Here are some of the popular dual SIM phones of today and a summary of their features.
The CECT N95 phone

Replicating Nokia’s N95 this phone has been manufactured by a Chinese company. The phone looks stunning with a unique slider design and ultra thin appearance. The prices are also much cheaper compared to the Nokia version – while Nokia N95 costs anywhere close to 650 dollars the CECT version costs one-third of it. There are numerous features such as dual slots for two SIM cards, complete MP3 as well as MP4 handling, Bluetooth 2.0, video cam and a 2 megapixel camera functionality. However, the phone does not have WiFi or GPS which is a real downer as most phones today have these essential features. Currently the phone does not support Java.
C9000 TV Phone
This is another dual SIM mobile phone with a difference. It has a real time analog TV too! The presence of scroll bars and complete keyboards help in easy texting facility and it even has an in-built camera inside. It has all the texting facilities like WAP 2.0, GPRS, MMS as well as SMS which are pretty standard features. But then the phone also has MP4 and MP3, TFT touch screen mechanisms measuring 3 inches in dimensions replete with WQVGA television as well. It even comes with a facility to read e-books on it owing to the large screen surface on this phone. There is also an ability to download numerous NES games onto this phone.
MTK 228 Phone

This is another fantastic dual SIM card phone that comes with a 2.6 inch touch screen interface. It also has finger touch ability on it. The camera has a 1/3 megapixel capacity and comes with auto focus as well. It can also perform as a web cam which makes the phone even more value for money. The phone also comes with MMS, SMS, WAP and GPRS features. It has an in-built FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and over 8 GB capacity memory. The presence of a complete keypad replete with scroll bar makes for easy texting facilities. The Picbrige interface facilitates easy and instant printing features. Also, unlike the iphone the MTK 228 is stylish, black and small thereby making it a style statement as well.
T200 TV phone

This one is another kid on the block as far as dual SIM phones are concerned. It comes with a 5 megapixel camera capacity and even has a telephoto zoom lens. It can work perfectly well on both the GSM-1800 as well as GSM-900 bands with equal ease. It comes with features like MP4 and MP3, WAP and GPRS. It also has standby SIM slots on dual mode. It also comes with an in-built FM radio, television and Bluetooth technology. It is possible to download over 2000 of the JAVAQQ, PPC 3D as well as PPC QQ games onto this phone.

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008Latest Announcement by Vodafone
Your wait is about to end! iPhone 3G arrives on Aug 22. 8GB Model is for Rs 31800 and 16GB Model is for Rs 36100. To get your iPhone before others, visit one of the select Vodafone Stores & confirm your booking by paying Rs 10000 on August 20th or 21st. You will get an Appointment to collect the iPhone after paying the balance amount. For a list of the select stores visit www.vodafone.in/iPhone
The much awaited Apple I-Phone 3G is due to be launched in the market by Vodafone and Bharti Airtel from the 22nd of August. There have been many rumors on the price tag that will be attached with the two models – 8 GB and 16 GB. The US prices for the two models are at $199 and $299 respectively. This slash in the price (from $299 and $499) has been effective since July 12th, 2008.
The Apple iPhone in India will cost around Rs 28,000. India is going to get the 8GB version of the iPhone. Based on the user response, Apple may introduce the 16GB version in India by late 2009. Full blown 3G (Third Generation Mobile Telephony) services in India will be available only by 2009 in India making it twice as fast as the existing mobile phones.
The in-built GPS system which would provide navigation and positioning capabilities and the ability to add third party applications would be an added Attraction, especially in India where GPS enabled and Third Party Application supporting Mobile Phones are not so common.
Bharti Airtel CEO Manoj Kohli told TOI that the price of the handset might not be subsidized in India. “US operators are able to subsidies handsets because they can make up for that with their call charges. They charge rates like 25 cents a minute. In India, the charge is 1.5 to 2 cents a minute,” Kohli said.
It will be interesting to wait and see how the iPhone with its expensive price tags will fare in the Indian market.
Vodafone to bring iPhone to India
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bo_wgW5BnSo
My guess would be the above mentioned price tag will only lead to more influx of unlocked iPhone from the United States (available at $500, that translates to Rs 21,500 approx; still lower than Rs 28,000). Apple and the distributors will also have to worry about the phone being made available for cheaper rates in the grey market.
I guess I will have to drop my plans of an I-Phone if it’s sold at 28k!
How to Book your Iphone in India?
If you don’t wish to wait until the Official Launch Date i.e. August 22nd, you may visit http://www.iphonenirvana.net/ to pick up an unlocked iphone now which works on any GSM Network in India.
Use the Vodafone iPhone Pre-registration Form to book your Vodafone iPhone. You could also book an Apple iPhone through Vodafone by sending an sms – IPHONE to 56789. They would keep you updated with the latest price, features and availability in due course.

Posted in Gadgets 8 Comments »New Nokia E71 Launched
Thursday, July 17th, 2008
This phone shows real improvement over the previous E61/E61i (Really Small & Compact)
Nokia has come out with the new E-Series E71 and I can’t wait to get my hands on that. I already own an E-Series Nokia E61i and know how useful it is to my business life. I have heard a lot of details about the Nokia E71 and decided to replace my phone with this as it’s got few more features and options.
The E61i is a little too wide for one handed use. Especially when you have to message your friend with just one hand, when the other hand is holding your favorite pizza.
httpv://youtube.com/watch?v=MiZhh-V0gvU
I believe that in an attempt to make the phone look much sleeker they made it with smaller keys and less space between the keys. Some similarities that have been carried forward from the E61i is the QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro SD support etc.
However there are a few features that replaced the E61i. Some of the notable ones include;
- 3.2 mega-pixel auto focus camera has replaced the E61’s 2 mega pixel camera.
- FM Radio (Not present in Nokia E61i)
- Assisted GPS
- 8 GB external memory and 110 MB internal dynamic memory
- It also features mobile VPN support and Nokia Maps for navigation.
Indian Market
Nokia E71 is available in grey and white across the country.
The E71 is priced at Rs 22,949.
