Wednesday, February 4th, 2009Google has been the innovative giant in the world of internet, and here it comes with the
latest version of yet another revolution Google earth 5.0. If Google earth prior versions were historic, this new version towers over them in theory and practice.
One needs to just download Google Earth to get free Google Earth demonstrations. The remote streets in the world may be viewed almost on a pan-level where one gets a feeling of actually being in a house or the streets. Google street view, enhanced with the aid of revolving cameras that work from running cars and later locate things on the internet, is awesome.
The space too, with planet Mars is brought to our doorstep at least virtually through this tool. Google maps the territories on Mars and lays it for comparison on the interface with menu bar handlings and satellite images. The juggling of the Earth and Mars may be done with reversing the two different controls. It is a revelation. The images of Mars though are limited to the NASA generosity.
The oceans too are not lagging behind. Google Earth 5.0 goes deep into the oceans and gets us sensational pictures, even formatting them for our sake. The Titanic 3D visual effect is breath taking to say the least.
The older attributes of personalizing the individual areas where the user lives through added inputs and speech have been retained. Google earth maps take one to the trip down memory lane and also present the picture of Ice ages and Bronze ages.

Posted in Gadgets 2 Comments »HP LaserJet 1200 Review
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008HP LaserJet 1200, a BW laser printer with a 1200 x 1200 dpi and the best point is that it can really work. The laserjet 1200 printer by HP is making the right kind of waves since its launch. It works for a 1200n Ethernet connection and comes with the facility of scan extension.

If you have to print a lot of letters, manuals and documentation, this is the right choice for you. Also, the price quoted by HP is way too reasonable. The bottleneck is that the printer works extremely slow when made to churn out sophisticated graphics. We are talking of the PostScript mode. It works perfectly though in the PCL mode. Hence it is advisable to use it with the Ghostscript driver like the pxlmono or hpjis.
“1200” uses PostScript effectively for all the fundamental printing purpose whereas HPLIP driver is paramount for advanced functions. The paper tray is very robust and allows easy insertion.
Also parallel port connection seems to work best for it. Using it with a USB connection device seems to be a lost idea.
A typical Linux user will always boast how the printer is an able ally in tackling high-volume documentation if the texts are simple.
