Microsoft on short fuse over 7000 leak

It’s official. Microsoft’s windows 7 build 7000 has been leaked and that too to torrent sites. Don’t be puzzled. It’s not the first time that it has happened to some beta version of Microsoft, though it certainly is the most significant leak till date. Prior to this, each was a pre-beta build, 7000 is Microsoft’s testing with a fully packaged beta build.
The beta will be officially released in mid-january but the pirates and the hackers are having it all to themselves even this day, some 20 days before being released. Microsoft had it in mind to release the build to only a few beta testers. In addition to this, it was to be made available to the endorsers of TechNet and MSDN. Sadly, the cookie has crumbled the other way. Today, it’s all out in the open and Microsoft can’t do anything about it.
Yes, it has taken the build off the Technet and MSDN servers and also annulled the update of the build dated for this quarter but this will not undo the harm for sure.
Microsoft has not faced this music for the first time. Earlier, another alpha edition had flown off from its limited testing resource pool. That time, it had also been obtained by torrent sites.
Neowin net’s forum was the first to show the leaked beta to traffic. Pirate bay suggested that the beta version can be downloaded if one has 2.44 GB storage in the hard disk.
