Aashayein Foundation, a Bangalore-based non-governmental organization which has a branch operating from Hyderabad, conducted the Cultural & Uniform Distribution Program for underprivileged children at the Hyderabad Council of Human Welfare (HCHW) on 6th of July 2008. HCHW is a rehabilitation center which encourages the education of street children and also supports their enrolling into regular schools. Prior to the Cultural & Uniform Distribution Program, Aashayein Foundation (AF), had organized summer camps for school children in the month of June at HCHW, where the AF members imparted to these children knowledge in basic English and involved them in various other personality development activities.
AF, whose main objective is primary education, took a remarkable initiative of taking the efforts of HCHW to next level by offering casual clothes & distributing school uniforms, the most basic requirements of these aspiring children. Along with that, various cultural programs were organized for the children providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talents before a large audience.
The memorable skit, the cheerful dances and the soulful songs presented by the children, kept the crowd sticking to their seats throughout the event. Invitees of the event included dignitaries from Satyam, Infosys , IBS and many more. The media was also invited to the event.
The program achieved what it had set out to achieve, bringing about an awareness among the audience, who can now definitely think about ways to contribute towards a better society. But sweetest of all achievement was the smiles on the children’s faces this program managed to draw.
